Current status and future planning of wire and cable development in 2019
Source: Cable recruitment network
In recent years, China's electric power, communications, energy, transportation and other industries have continued to expand, and the demand for power lines and cables has grown rapidly. China's wire and cable industry has entered a period of rapid development, and will surely usher in more development opportunities in the future. This topic is based on the new situation of the cable industry in the country. Through summarizing the development achievements of the industry, analyzing the current prevailing key status issues, demonstrating the development status of large enterprises, and hoping to point out the direction for the development of the cable industry in China.
History is a kind of remembrance, whether it is the hardships of entrepreneurship or the brilliant achievements, it is worth our understanding and experience. Since the Kunming cable factory made the first cable in China in 1939, Chinese cable companies have continuously strengthened their technological research and development capabilities and produced a series of products with high technical content. At present, China has more than 2,000 kinds of electric wires and cables with more than 100,000 specifications. Electric wires and cables, medium-voltage and high-voltage cables, communication cables and optical cables, and electromagnetic lines have been widely used in various fields of society. Chinese wires and cables are moving toward higher, wider and finer goals.
Wire cables are used to transmit transmission(magnetic) energy, information, and wire products that realize electromagnetic energy conversion. Generalized wire cables are also referred to simply as cables. Narrow cables refer to insulated cables. It can be defined as: a collection consisting of the following parts; One or more insulation cores, and each of them may have a cladding layer, a total protective layer and an outer protective layer, and cables can also have additional uninsulated conductors.
Current Situation and Trend of Foreign Wire and Cable Industry
The international analysis of the output and consumption of the wire and cable industry is generally based on copper-core insulated wire and cable, and is divided into three categories: power cables, communication cables, and winding lines(different from domestic customary classifications). Using the United States dollar as the unit of measure of value or copper conductor consumption(weight) as the main statistical unit. Since the value data includes inflation rates at different times and changes in material prices, the use of copper conductor consumption analysis excludes the factors of changes in conductor prices., Relatively close to the actual trend of change.
In recent years, a clear trend has been the rapid economic growth in emerging countries such as Asia and the shift of the world's production focus on wire and cable to Asia, which has led to the rapid development of the wire and cable industry in countries such as China, Vietnam, the Philippines and Egypt in the Middle East. At the same time, due to European unification, the manufacturing costs in Central and Eastern Europe are relatively low, and the production of wire and cable is also growing rapidly. In 2008, world production of insulated copper cables increased by 4.6 %, and annual production of insulated copper cables was 12.56 million tons, of which Europe accounted for 25 %, North America accounted for 16 %, Northeast Asia accounted for 12 %, and the rest of the world(including China) accounted for about 47 %. As can be seen from international industry statistics, global cable and cable growth averaged 4.5 per cent annually from 2003 to 2010.
The main characteristics of the current international wire and cable industry:
Asia becomes the first concentration area of wire and cable in the world
Looking at the overall size of the global wire and cable industry, the Asian market accounts for 37 %, the European market is close to 30 %, the American market accounts for 24 %, and other markets account for 9 %. According to the production of copper conductors and the division of countries, China, the United States, Japan, Germany, and South Korea occupy the top five positions in the world(among which China, Japan, and South Korea are all Asian countries). Chinese production accounts for 30.5 % of the global share, of which mainland China's production accounts for 27.6 %, and its annual growth rate ranks first in all countries and regions in the world.
High industrial concentration in developed countries
After many years of development, the wire and cable industry in developed countries, especially in the face of fluctuations in raw materials prices, small enterprises gradually withdrew from the market, and the degree of industrial concentration increased significantly: four US manufacturers controlled 93 % of the output value of copper cables and 85 % of the output value of fibre-optic cables; Seven Japanese companies accounted for 86 % of national sales; Twelve British companies account for more than 95 % of national sales; The five major French companies accounted for the turnover of the French market; The European market is mainly monopolized by two major companies.
Europe Upholding Competitive Advantage
Regionally, Europe has been a leader in the global cable manufacturing industry, thanks mainly to the large investment of French cable giants in product research and development; On the other hand, 70 per cent of the production costs of wire and cable depend on raw materials, and labour costs are less than 10 per cent, so that Labour cost advantages in Asia are not adequately reflected in the competitive landscape of the global wire and cable industry.
The global cable market is maturing and growing slowly
In terms of market supply and demand, the global cable market has matured and growth has been slow. The domestic and international tracking and analysis of the development of the cable industry shows that as long as a country or region's economy is under the premise of growth, especially in the process of industrialization and urbanization, the growth of the cable industry in the country will be above the GDP growth rate. China's per capita GDP is far lower than that of developed countries, and per capita cable usage is much lower than that of developed countries in Europe and even developing countries such as Latin America.
5, environmental protection has become the development trend of global cable products
In terms of products, environmental protection has become the external pressure and development trend faced by global cable manufacturers in recent years. The United States, Japan, and Europe are in the world's leading position in the research and development and manufacturing of environmentally friendly cables, and their production technologies are relatively mature. The ROHS directive developed by the EU requires that the use of hazardous substances such as lead, Mercury, cadmium, hexavalent Chromium, PBDEs and PBBs in newly launched electrical and electronic equipment be banned from 1 July 2006; In Japan, after the successful development of environmentally friendly cables by Fujikura Cable Co., Ltd., it actively promoted the government's promulgation of environmentally friendly cable standards. Subsequently, major Japanese electrical companies have also requested that from March 2006 onwards, the wires and cables used in various electrical appliances be passed. Relevant environmental protection certification.
The development status of domestic industry of wire and cable
In the 1990s, China's wire and cable industry developed rapidly and became the world's second largest producer of wire and cable. The development of the industry has led to the following problems:
The number of wire and cable enterprises is large and the scale is small. State-owned enterprises have lost their dominant position in the industry. When the Shanghai Cable Research Institute conducted an industry survey in 1988, the state-owned enterprises originally designated by the state accounted for 48 % of the output value of the entire industry, and now emerging enterprises such as collective enterprises, stock cooperative enterprises, foreign investors, and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan investment enterprises have been in the industry. The dominant position.
2, the industry product structure has changed. The proportion of wire and cable used for winding lines and electrical equipment has decreased, and the proportion of power cables and communication cables has increased. This change is related to the rapid development of our electricity and communications industry, and it is expected that this trend will continue in the future.
Compared with foreign advanced enterprises, China's wire and cable industry still has a large gap in management level, process level, technology content, product quality, etc., and equipment utilization rate is low. The utilization rate of cable equipment in China is about 30 % on average, and the utilization rate of equipment in advanced countries is generally 70 % normal.
4, the industry labor productivity is low. Although China's wire and cable industry has imported a lot of production equipment since the 1980s, which has greatly increased the labor productivity of the industry, the gap with foreign countries is still very large. For example, the per capita sales of the wire and cable industry in China are only 10 % -20 % of the Japanese counterparts.
5, the product structure is unreasonable. In China, the proportion of products with low technology content is too large, and the proportion of products with high technology content is too small, and the product structure is unreasonable.
6, the material input production rate is low. In the production process of Chinese enterprises, material consumption is very serious, making the input output rate very low.
7, backward management, long production cycle. The number of liquidity turnover in China's wire and cable industry is less than twice, which is much lower than 9-11 times abroad.
8, weak scientific research, the establishment of enterprise innovation system
